Since 1974, the Plaistow Historical Society’s goal has been to promote an awareness of Plaistow’s history and to preserve its heritage. In addition to sponsoring programming focusing on state and local history, the society is a resource for those who wish to learn more about the town.

For its first five years the society held meetings in a small room in the Town Hall before moving to its present location at the old firehouse. This building is now the society’s museum and houses a large collection of documents, objects, and ephemera that chronicle Plaistow’s past.

Plaistow residents and business donated many of these resources which the society has drawn on for this web site.

The society welcomes donations of artifacts relating to Plaistow’s history.
